Andres Iniesta, the most experienced player of Spain, passed the striker Costa inside the box, who put the ball in the goal and gave his team a 1-0 lead.

Spain defeated Iran 1-0 late on Wednesday night in an exciting encounter of group B in the FIFA World Cup in Russia. The only goal for the match was by Striker Diego Costa and Spain gave the first win of the 21st edition of the World Cup.

Iran got the first corner of the match in the 36th minute. However, they failed to penetrate Spain’s defense. Spani continued her strong performance in the second half also. In the 50th minute of the match, midfielder Sergio Bucquets made a strong shot from outside the box, but Berevand jumped off to his left and made a great defense. Four minutes later, Spain’s most experienced player Andres Iniesta passed the striker Costa inside the box, putting the ball in the goal and giving the team a 1-0 lead. Iran got free-kick in the 61st minute about 30 yards from the goalpost. The Iranian player gave the best cross inside the box and Saeed Ejatolla managed to put the ball in the goal.

The referee took the help of VAR which found that there was a player off side during the cross, due to which Iran was not given the goal. In the 83rd minute of the match, Iran got a great chance to score a goal of equalizing. Wahid Amiri from the left flank gave a strong cross in the box but Mehdi did not put the ball in the goal with Tareemi header. Spain will face Morocco in their second Group B match on Monday, while Iran will face Portugal from Portugal
